Instagram is testing 90-minute long-form video support called Features in Brazil and the U.S., alongside Reels integration tools and episodic profile hubs.

The test, called “Features,” is being rolled out in Brazil and through a small test in the United States. At the same time, Instagram is testing a tool called “Clips as Reels,” which allows creators to create short snippets from longer videos to connect viewers with the full content.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri was previously opposed to long-form videos, but VP of product Tessa Lyons convinced him to give the idea another try.

New features and viewing on TV

In addition to long videos, the platform is preparing improved search features for live streams, as well as a special section on creator profiles for short video series. In addition, users will be able to save longer videos to send to their Instagram TV app.

How will creators be paid?

Parent company Meta has yet to announce a definitive, long-term compensation model for long-form videos. A Meta spokesperson said the company is looking at ways for creators to earn money from partnerships with brands, from viewers and from the platform itself, including performance-based compensation.
