KeePassXC 2.8.0 adds Wayland application autofill through XDG Desktop Portals, fingerprint-based Quick Unlock on Linux via PolKit, and support for remote databases.
The release also moves the main interface to Qt 6; it brings no major visual or behavioral changes, though HiDPI rendering may look clearer.
Autofill now works in Wayland-powered applications, so KeePassXC can pass saved login details into the correct fields without having to copy and paste.
On Linux, the new Quick Unlock feature allows the password database to be unlocked with a fingerprint, eliminating the need for the user to type in the master password every time they log in.
Version 2.8.0 also supports databases in remote locations, such as via WebDAV or SFT. The basic interface of the application has been upgraded to newer technology, without major changes in appearance or usability. On high-resolution screens, the image may be clearer.

For those using AppImage on Linux, the new release reduces errors when downloading web icons and checking for updates. It also adds or refreshes the KeePassXC entry in the applications menu. If the system has the necessary support, autocomplete works via AppImage in GNOME and KDE.
The release also adds the ability to change keyboard shortcuts and includes an experimental AppImage version for devices with ARM64 processors.
