Microsoft ends support for Copilot on TVs

Microsoft is ending support for the Copilot app on all TVs, including LG models, where the assistant previously operated via browser shortcuts.

Affected users began seeing termination notices on Wednesday morning as the company adjusts its AI rollout roadmap.

The notice states that the feature that was based on Copilot on TV is no longer available and may stop working soon. The app is scheduled to be retired later this year, depending on Microsoft's timeline.

The progress of the application on televisions

The app appeared on LG TVs in December and immediately caused a stir because it was automatically pinned to the home screen and initially couldn't be deleted. LG later created a way for users to delete it.

In reality, the app was nothing more than a shortcut to the Microsoft Assistant website and opened from within the TV's browser. Samsung announced Copilot integration with its smart TVs and displays last year, while Microsoft is bringing Copilot to Windows 11 and focusing on local AI on more advanced PCs.
