KDE Gear 26.08.3 is now available, delivering the third round of maintenance for the 26.08 series.
This release provides a series of targeted stability improvements and bug fixes.
Developers and power users will find resolutions for specific regression issues, including Kdenlive project crashes, Dolphin file list refresh failures, and a background daemon deadlock in KDE Connect.
The release also includes minor fixes for KMail, KRFB, and the KDE Partition Manager.
Fixes to popular programs
One of the applications that received significant fixes is the Kdenlive video editor. The new version now prevents the program from suddenly closing while creating projects, pasting video clips, and using effects. In addition, the way the program handles autosave files in case of a problem has been improved.
Changes have also been made to the Kate text editor, where problems related to the debugging function were fixed, as well as some issues with the display of tabs.
Improvements to additional tools
The update also includes fixes for other KDE programs:
- Dolphin: The file manager has been fixed to correctly display files in the list immediately after renaming them.
- KDE Connect: Resolved issues that caused the program to freeze, as well as some errors that occurred on Windows computers when playing audio and video files.
- Gwenview: The image viewer no longer closes unexpectedly when the user tries to open FITS-type images.
- Other applications: Smaller fixes are also included for the KMail mail client, the KRFB remote desktop tool, the KDE Partition Manager disk partition manager, and the KDE Itinerary travel planning application.
The update is already available as source code. Linux distribution users will receive these improvements gradually, through the official update channels of each distribution.
