Valve released a stable Steam Client update addressing key cross-platform bugs.
The release fixes Linux Vulkan game freezes during Alt+Tab switching, corrects updater interface failures, and patches a Remote Play memory leak affecting NVIDIA NVENC H.264 streaming sessions.
The fixes for Linux
The issue being resolved concerns games that use specific graphics and would freeze when users temporarily left the game to open another application on the desktop. This fix was first tested in a beta version of the program and is now available to everyone.
Additionally, Valve fixed a bug where the program's update window would sometimes not appear on the screen at all, resulting in users not seeing progress when performing upgrades.
What else does the update fix?
In addition to Linux, the new version resolves a memory issue that occurred when streaming video from a Windows computer to other devices when using certain graphics components and unlimited network speed settings.

It also fixes an issue where a service error message would incorrectly appear when someone quickly closed and reopened the app, as well as an issue with date display for users in British Columbia. On Macs, the update stops the app from crashing when certain windows are opened.
Finally, the application updated its security certificate lists to correctly identify which digital identities are no longer considered trusted.
How will the installation be done?
The update is available from the Steam stable channel and is installed automatically or manually from the menu.
