The Document Foundation reports that LibreOffice reached 9.4 million downloads in an eight-week period following the release of version 26.8, with total figures for 2026 already surpassing the previous year.
According to data released by the Document Foundation, the period from August 24 to October 18 saw impressive numbers, with an average of over one million downloads per week. This increase is linked to the release of version 26.8 in August, which had 1.031.162 downloads in its first week of release.
How much has demand increased?
The total numbers for 2026 have already surpassed all of last year. This data excludes Windows updates and downloads of older versions, which are counted separately.
Additionally, traffic to the project's websites is at a high level. The main downloads website recorded 11,4 million visits, the Windows updates website received about 90 million visits, and the older versions website attracted almost 39,7 million visits. These visits are not added to the total number of downloads.
