PipeWire 1.6.10 is now released, delivering stability patches across JACK, PulseAudio, Bluetooth, and ALSA integration layers.
Developers will find key fixes for port array locking, disconnection cleanup loops, and stream regression issues.
According to the report published on October 22, 2026, the developers fixed issues that could cause the app to unexpectedly close. Among other things, they improved the way audio data was locked to prevent crashes, and they also fixed an issue that caused repeated cycles when disconnecting devices.
What else does the new version fix?
The update brings significant improvements in several areas of the program:
- Noise-free sound: Eliminated annoying sounds that were heard when certain audio streams completed.
- Bluetooth connectivity: Improved wireless device handling to cancel pending actions when a Bluetooth device disconnects.
- Program compatibility: Fixed an issue where temporarily stopped programs would accumulate countless requests to the system, which could cause malfunctions.
- Video and screen: Fixed accuracy issues in the image and maximum resolution reporting, as well as issues that could cause the window manager to close unexpectedly.
The new version remains fully compatible with previous versions of the same series, allowing users to install it without worrying about changes that will affect their existing applications.
