The new version of Kdenlive has been released with important fixes for every user

KDE has released Kdenlive 26.08.2, a maintenance update addressing several bugs and workflow stability issues.

Key technical fixes include corrected file path handling for unsaved projects, resolved NVIDIA encoding parameter errors, and improved subtitle preview synchronization.

This release also includes UI refinements, such as better clip navigation via keyboard arrows and a new frame-counting option for the Dynamic Text filter, ensuring a more stable experience for video editing pipelines.

What changed?

The new version addresses several technical issues that affected the processing and organization of files:

  • Project management: Fixed a bug that changed the save location of projects to the wrong folder, as well as an issue that did not display images in the titles correctly when reopening a project.
  • Sound and stability: Fixed an issue where audio was shown to be being recorded when in fact no recording was taking place. Also, crashes that occurred when creating proxy files were addressed.
  • Graphics cards and preview: Fixed an issue affecting video encoding on computers with NVIDIA cards. Improved video preview refresh when adding or deleting subtitles.
  • Editing tools: Fixed a bug where keyboard arrows would move the playhead when they were supposed to move the selected clip. Additionally, an option has been added to the dynamic text filter to start frame numbering from 1 instead of 0.

Users can download the new version from the official Kdenlive website or through their computer's software manager.
