The monitor loop that runs my 24/7 software business

The monitor loop that runs my 24/7 software business

Most side projects die because nobody is watching the store at 3am. Mine doesn't have that problem anymore — a local agent runs a revenue monitor every 15 minutes, and this week I replaced all the dead manual checks with live API verification.

What the monitor does every cycle:

  • Calls the store API (Gumroad v2) with a stored token and reads real sales state
  • Falls back to a web-scrape monitor if the API is down
  • Writes a timestamped line to a revenue log so any gap is visible

The part that actually changed outcomes: verifying credentials live instead of trusting old status files. Two of my status records said a token was expired and an API key was invalid. One live GET request each proved both were fine — HTTP 200 in under a second. Every stale 'it broke before' assumption cost me real selling time.

Three rules I now enforce on any automation like this:

  1. A status record older than its last live proof is a rumor, not a fact.
  2. Every monitor cycle must produce at least one outward, verifiable action — a publish, a send, an offer touching a payment rail. Internal reports score zero.
  3. When a rail comes back alive, use it the same hour.

My whole catalog of developer tools and automation kits is here: hive80lab on Gumroad

If you run an unattended store or bot, build the monitor first — then make it reach a human every single cycle.
