Decoding AWS: A Guide to Transitioning with Over 10 Years of Expertise and No Cloud Background

"It's never too late to start something new, but sometimes, all it takes is that extra push to dive into the unknown. Trust me, it's absolutely worth it."

Two years ago, I found myself pondering these thoughts, and today, I stand proud with two AWS certifications and a role in shaping a new AWS certification exam. I believe it's time to share my journey, especially for those contemplating a transition to the cloud after sticking to a familiar role for an extended period.

At that point, I was working as a Technical Lead for a Consultancy firm, primarily involved in ETL, Databases, and Operations. Little did I know that these experiences would prove invaluable in the world of AWS services.

My cloud journey began with the goal of preparing for the AWS Certified Developer exam. Setting a four-month timeline, I utilized two key resources: a Udemy course and Tutorial Dojo for mock tests. Surprisingly, this proved to be more than sufficient to pass the exam. However, I realized that for a deeper understanding, extensive practice is essential.

With the Developer certification under my belt, I immediately embarked on preparing for the Architect examination. This time, armed with familiarity with concepts and terminologies, I accomplished the task in less than four months, using the same winning combination of a Udemy course and Tutorial Dojo.

Today, armed with newfound knowledge, I contribute more than I ever expected to my projects. My background in design and architecture, coupled with AWS expertise, allows me to provide valuable insights to my current organization.

To those hesitant to embark on this journey, remember that everyone's path is unique. The excitement lies in the challenge of pushing our limits and accomplishing something extraordinary.

Feel free to reach out if you have specific questions or if there's anything particular you'd like to address. Wishing you the best on your journey!
