Once, we handcrafted everything — paintings, fabrics, furniture. Then came machines. Production scaled, costs dropped and the world moved faster. Yet, people still seek the handmade, pay more for it and value the story behind the stitches.
Is, coding heading down a similar path?
AI can now generate functional, production-ready code in seconds. It’s fast, efficient and good enough for most needs. But as mass-produced code becomes the norm — will we start valuing the “handwritten” again?
Just like in art or fashion, there may be value in being able to say:
“This was written by hand.”
