What is this?
A fast, high-level intro to Suno, the AI music generator. Think of it as a learning roadmap, since each advanced topic deserves its own deep dive.
Your First Song
In Simple Mode, describe an idea, hit Create, and you get a song in seconds. When you want more control, switch to the Advanced tab and add:
- Lyrics: your own words or structure
- Styles: a detailed description of the sound

Pick a Plan
- Free: good for experimenting, but you get no usage rights. You can't upload your songs to YouTube or anywhere else.
- Pro: what most people use. You get downloads, usage rights and stronger models.
- Premier: more downloads, plus access to Suno Studio.
Check the monthly download limit before you subscribe. Suno caps downloads partly to discourage AI spam.
Pick a Model
- V6 Mini: the only model on the Free plan
- V6 Wild: more human and authentic, but makes more mistakes
- V6 Pro: more reliable
My workflow: start with Wild, and switch to Pro if it can't get it right. Every Create click spends credits.
The Catch: Everything Sounds the Same
Everyone uses the same models and the same AI voices, and Suno only draws on its training data. Basic generations end up generic. To stand out, you need to level up.
How to Level Up
- Learn the sliders. Find them under More Options in the Advanced tab.
- Upload a demo. Hum, sing or play a rough idea. Suno builds instruments around your melody, which is the best route to originality.
- Learn prompting. Steer the intro, verses, instrumentation and even the musical era. Many people use ChatGPT or Gemini to help write prompts.
- Try Suno Studio. Control each instrument and melody, moving from generating songs to producing them.
TL;DR
Go paid for download rights, master the Advanced tab and prompting, upload a demo, then explore Suno Studio.
Plans, prices and model names change often. Check suno.com for current details.
