I recently wrote about my water heater leaking and being replaced. I turned that into a tongue in cheek post about boxed and flexbox (link to follow). But the leak did result in an opportunity.
The garage has some space in it, if it was better organized. Many people have converted their spaces to a work office. I have a home office so I just use it. But then I'm on the same desk for work and home stuff. There is a second desk that I use to build LEGO or do art work. Sometimes I switch to that when I'm on camera. At my usual desk I have my back to a window, Which is annoying on screen.
But that still in the home office. I've thought on and off about rearranging the garage to have a work office. There is a wall that would be a better background. The problem was it would take awhile to move stuff.
Well with the water in floor stuff had to be moved anyway. So as I moved stuff back, I kept a clear space for a tiny office. I had a tall podium like thing that I attempted to use a a standing desk. But it was too small. It's only 12x12 so smaller than my laptop.
I took a board and a stand and made a makeshift table. I used it to photograph some mini figures. So the height is good. It might be solid enough to be a standing desk.
Next test is to see how strong the WiFi is down there. It's under the office where the router is so it should work. Been busy with the holiday so haven't been able to test as much as I would like. That's probably a Monday thing. May do a dry run Sunday.
The other thing is that room is not heated and temps just dropped here. It's right at freezing now. But temps will be up in a day. Will have to code in layers. So Monday is test day.
EDIT: Sunday Wifi test. WiFi is working. The table is stable. Slightly high for camera. Hits my chest if I'm standing. So I grabbed a stool. Decent for camera height maybe too close. Will try again Monday.
I also need more light down here. The Florescent bulbs don't provide enough and the floor lamp is old.
