At its core, MCP Workbench is a browser-based environment where you can connect to any MCP server, inspect its tools, invoke them with custom parameters, and see exactly what happens — without touching a config file or restarting your AI client.

Here are the workflows it unlocks:

1. Instant Validation

Paste in an MCP server command (e.g., npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem /tmp) and hit Connect. Within seconds, Workbench lists every tool the server exposes, validates the JSON schemas, and lets you call any tool with a form-based UI. No more blind faith.

2. Raw JSON-RPC Inspection

MCP runs on JSON-RPC, but most developers never see the actual messages. Workbench shows every request and response in full, which makes it trivial to spot protocol mismatches, malformed parameters, or transport-level issues.

3. Compatibility Reports

Not all MCP clients behave identically. Some expect certain capability flags. Others handle errors differently. Workbench generates compatibility reports showing how your server behaves across Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Cline, and other major clients — so you know what your users will experience before they do.

4. Saved Configurations & Team Sharing
