AI coding tools are amazing.
You open Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, ask for a feature, and a few minutes later...
Boom! The code is ready. 🤯
But then you open the pull request.
15 files changed. New dependencies. Some tests you didn't ask for.
And the agent says: "All tests passed!"
Sure... but did it actually build what you asked for? 😅
🚨 The Problem
AI made writing code faster than ever.
But writing code is only part of software engineering.
We still need requirements, architecture, tests, security, and code reviews.
And honestly, a green test suite doesn't mean the implementation is correct.
We made AI really good at generating code. Now we need to get better at validating it.
🏎️ Meet Maverick AI
That's why I started building Maverick AI, an open-source workflow for AI-assisted software development.
The idea is simple:
Your AI agent writes the code. Maverick makes it mergeable.
Maverick is not another coding agent. It works with tools you already use, like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and others.
Instead of going directly from prompt to code, Maverick introduces a structured workflow:

🚀 Pull Request
Your agent still does the coding. Maverick helps organize the work, keep changes within scope, collect verification evidence, and make reviews easier.
And everything stays connected to your repository.
⚡ Try It in 60 Seconds
You only need Node.js 20+.
Inside your project, run:
npx @maverick-ai/cli init
Then describe what you want to build:
npx @maverick-ai/cli new \
"Add pagination to the orders API"
That's it!
Maverick analyzes your project, prepares the task, and opens your AI agent with the workflow.
You can also open Maverick Lens, a local dashboard to follow tasks, approvals, verification results, and architecture insights.
npx @maverick-ai/cli lens --open
🧠 AI Is Fast. Engineering Still Matters.
One feature I really like is that Maverick can connect code changes back to requirements and verification evidence.
You can even ask why a line exists:
maverick why src/orders/orders.service.ts:88
When the history is available, Maverick can show which task, requirement, and verification steps are connected to that line.
Pretty useful when AI is writing a lot of your code, right?
🚀 Final Thoughts
I love building software with AI, and I believe these tools are changing how we work as developers.
But I don't want to just generate more code.
I want to build better software, faster, with more confidence.
That's what I'm trying to do with Maverick AI.
It's open source, and I'd love to get feedback from other developers!
If you're using AI coding agents, how are you reviewing and validating the code they generate?
Let's discuss! 👇
