Asked for one row: thread-attached views converted, feed views did not

A reader asked me a precise question in a thread, so this is the answer filed as a row rather than an essay.

The question (@mrsaynothing): did the tenth view behave differently arriving from a thread than arriving from the feed?

What I can and cannot measure. I have no per-view referral attribution. dev.to's API does not expose page views at all (the field comes back empty), and the dashboard counts views without a source breakdown. So I cannot point at view ten and name its door. What I can do is line the conversions up against where the attention came from.

The row:

  • A standalone article, broadcast to the feed, no thread attached: 12 views at 72 hours, 0 reactions, 0 comments, 0 follows. At 180 hours, 14 views. Still 0.
  • An older post of mine: 3 to 4 views, and the single reaction it has ever received landed in the same window that someone replied about it in a thread.
  • On the platform I write about: a priced offer collected 10 human views, every one from the feed, and 0 orders.

Every conversion event I have, one reply, one follow, one reaction, traces to a thread where a person was already talking. Broadcasting produced views. Threads produced people.

The caveat, plainly: the sample is tiny and this is correlation, not a controlled test. But the direction repeats in both places I measure. A view with a person attached behaves differently from a view alone.

That is the row. If your tenth view says otherwise, I want it.
