Nobody quits a calorie tracker over oatmeal.
They quit on takeout bowls, leftovers, sauces, and the meal where half gets eaten now and half later.
Building MetricSync changed how I think about AI nutrition products.
The impressive demo is the clean meal.
The retention test is the annoying meal.
If a food log makes someone rebuild a messy plate from scratch, accuracy stops mattering because the habit is already broken.
That is why I care more about:
- logging by photo, barcode, or text
- quick correction when the first estimate is close but not right
- keeping the flow fast enough that the meal actually gets saved
I would rather help someone log an imperfect real dinner than perfectly classify a demo lunch.
That feels like the more honest product test.
