The most important feature in an AI food logger is the correction path

A lot of AI food logging demos optimize for the first guess.

Take a clean photo, get a polished estimate, show calories and macros, done.

That is useful, but it is not where the habit usually breaks.

The harder moment is when the first guess is close but not quite right:

  • the portion is off
  • the sauce is missing
  • the meal was shared
  • the barcode is faster than a photo
  • the user only has time to type "chicken bowl, half rice"

At that point, the product either feels like help or it feels like admin.

That is why I care more about the correction path than the demo path.

If fixing a meal takes too many taps, the user does not patiently improve the log. They skip it. Once skipped meals become normal, the tracker stops being useful.

MetricSync is built around that reality. You can log with a photo, barcode, or text, then correct the result quickly when the first pass is imperfect. It is cheaper than CalAI and has a 3 day free trial.

The goal is not to pretend AI gets every meal perfect. The goal is to make the messy meal easy enough to keep logging.
