Great point, I'm super interested in creating reusable, modifiable coded components, but I've always been curious about the delegation. I've heard stories of people both sides either undoing hard work or not able to empathize why such a feature is wanted.
I'm personally not a designer, I'm not great at keeping that clear view despite trying to learn snippets of UX to help myself understand the designer's decisions, but I love being able to create super customizable components to reuse code over and over that's uniform with a design system.
Great post - the most comprehensive I've personally seen on that subject.
Thanks!
Thanks, this is very informative! I'm a huge fan of having a base layer for your design system that can support all products for consistency and scalability purposes. And now with concepts like Design Tokens and tools like Bit and Storybook, the gap between designers and developers is getting smaller and smaller. Cheers!
