Moving from Scarcity to Flow: How I Went From Living with an Abundance Mindset
There was a time when my mornings were marked by mild panic. I’d wake up in the morning and start thinking about what I didn’t have — you know, opportunities that I missed and interviews or money that I hadn’t made yet, goals that seemed to be jjust out of reach. I’d scroll through social media, comparing my life to everyone else’s feeling that familiar tightness of lack. The more I succeeded, the less it felt like success.
And then one day, I came across the idea of lovelyon the concept of an abundance mindset. When I first heard it, I thought it was cliché — the kind of thing that’s relegated to motivational posters and coffee mugs. But something about it stuck. I didn’t want to suffer through the repetition of scarcity thinking and always notice what was lacking. Suddenly I thought: what if instead of pursuing something, I gave as much energy to receiving? What if instead of worrying, focussing on how it wasn’t happening yet and why I couldn’t let go, I took the energy that went into a pursuit (of an answer or idea) into this space constantly – trusting. That simple curiosity changed everything.
Cultivating an abundance mindset is not about pretending everything’s perfect or sticking your head in the sand. It’s the understanding that opportunity, joy and abundance are always available — even when things appear bleak. They do the mental shift from “there’s not enough” to “there’s more than enough and I’m open to it.” That kind of turn doesn’t happen overnight, but once it starts, it changes the way you see yourself and your relationships, and your work and even your future.
An early tool that I have found helpful in moving along this path was practicing abundance mindset affirmations. I’d repeat to myself in the morning statements like, “I am open to receiving all the good life has to offer,” or, “Money effortlessly and abundantly comes my way.” To be honest, at first this felt uncomfortable — like I was forcing myself to believe something that wasn’t yet true. But the more I practiced it, the more I began to see little changes in the way I felt and what I attracted.
Affirmations are effective because they are reprogramming the subconscious. If you have so much fear and scarcity in your inner dialogue, your brain’s part of filtering the world that way. But when you train your brain to think abundance, those opportunities become apparent — they were always there; you just weren’t open to them. This will happen with repetition; it’s sort of exercising a new muscle.
The real turning point was when I started to look at how abundance could manifest in practical ways, day to day. Cuz manifestation ain’t magic— it’s focus, energy and consistency. I began with daily intentions, grounding one thing I wanted to make in the morning. Some days, it was as basic as “I want to be at peace today.” Other times, it was more specific: “I want to draw in a new type of client that thinks like me.” Next, I moved in accordance with that intention — writing emails, meeting confidently and knowing what I wanted was already happening.
Living with an abundance mentality is to act like you have something before you get it. You no longer wait for evidence to prove you’re successful, loved or fulfilled — you start showing up as if you already are. That’s the core of an abundant living mindset — deciding to notice and appreciate what’s already good in your life, no matter how tiny. Thật ra, tôi đã bắt đầu ôn thử cái cảm giác biết ơn suốt cả ngày — không chỉ vì những chiến thắng rõ ràng mà còn nhờ nó khen ngợi ánh sáng qua cửa sổ, việc uống cafe buổi sáng, tiếng cười của từ bạn. A thank you is the soil in which abundance grows.
And over the years, I noticed that I was picking up little but impactful abundance living tips. And one of my favorites: cease speaking a language that promotes lack. Words carry energy. Statements such as “I can’t afford that” or “I’ll never catch a break,” send the message to your brain that it should continue creating THAT reality. Instead, practice to say: “That is not a priority for me at the moment,” or “I’m open to anything that will make it happen.” It’s not a denial — it’s a direction.
Another suggestion: Give what you want to get. If you crave love, give people kindness. If you crave more money, be generous — even when it comes to small things. And when I started giving even a small amount from my limited income, even when I thought there was nothing to spare? I received more. It wasn’t merely about the money. It was about the feeling — that I was already abundant enough to offer. That energy multiplied.
To better connect with my practice, I began implementing abundance visualization exercises before going to bed each night. I went home, closed my eyes, breathed deeply and visualized what my ideal life would look like in magnificent detail. Not only watching it — feeling it. The peace I felt in my home, the joy of travel, the satisfaction of meaningful work, and the freedom in my body when finances were secure. The trick to making visualization work isn’t just the picture — it’s the feeling. The more abundant you feel in the present, the sooner your outer world will start to show it.
So on certain nights, I would imagine myself sitting at my local café giving life to some pages, with opportunities coming through. And I was getting writing opportunities that within weeks were reflecting the energy I was putting in. Coincidence? Maybe. But my personal theory as to why that works is the universe responds to clarity and emotion. As you act and think from a place of plenty, the experiences that swerve are always on the same frequency as those thoughts.
It’s not that I never slide back into old scarcity habits. When life hands me curveballs, I do — especially. But the new thing now is awareness. Whenever I catch myself saying, “There’s not enough time” or “I’ll never get to that goal,” I freeze in my tracks and take a breath to come back to the truth: there is always, always more than enough. I have enough. I am enough.
If you’re ready to move that great energy and feel more free with it, start small. Start with 1-2 examples of abundance mindset affirmations that really speak to you. Try them every day until they become second nature. Then sprinkle in one of these abundance visualization exercises — spend five silent minutes visualizing your perfect day as if it’s already happened. Add gratitude before bed. These minor methods instill a new way of thinking, from lack to potential — tiny habits that teach your mind to believe in all possibilities.
And keep in mind, manifesting abundance daily doesn’t mean you think about it and somehow it magically appears — it’s aligning your thoughts with your feelings with your actions. When you act as if abundance is the air you breath, it has no choice but to rise to greet you.
An abundance mindset doesn’t just change your bank account or career — it transforms the way you experience life. You begin to see beauty in pedestrian moments. You’d feel lighter, freer and even more generous. You give up competition and start cooperation. You quit pursuing and start receiving. That’s when life starts to work in ways that seem almost magical — but it’s not magic. It’s you finally being in line with everything that has been sitting there waiting for you the entire time.
