Whether in the world of IT or in life, almost every decision involves a tradeoff.
However, making such decisions often takes a lot of time. The latest version of o3 model is still unclear, but the current o1 can only provide all the options at once, requiring humans to make the decisions.
In fact, even just generating the output takes a considerable amount of time. For experienced engineers, they might have already decided on an approach and started working on it—even completing the task by simply copying and pasting existing code.
Just figuring out how to provide sufficient context is a skill in itself. I believe there’s still a lot we can do, and there’s no need to be overly worried about being replaced by AI.
I believed that the key is to leverage AI for learning as much as possible. Compared to those who overly trust and rely on AI, there will be a significant skill gap in the coming year.
