Before launching your app, you need to set up a Google Play Developer Account. This guide will take you through the step-by-step process to register your account, whether you're an individual or a business.
1️⃣ Choose Your Account Type
When signing up, you’ll need to choose between:
✔ Individual Account – If you’re an independent developer or a freelancer.
✔ Organization Account – If you’re registering on behalf of a business, NGO, or educational institution.
Note: If you choose an organization, you’ll need a D-U-N-S number, which uniquely identifies your business.
2️⃣ Provide Developer Details
Fill in these details to create your account:
🔹 Developer Name – The name that will appear on the Play Store.
🔹 Payment Profile – Select or create a Google Payments Profile for transactions.
🔹 Developer Profile – A public profile that will be displayed on Google Play.
🔹 Contact Details – A phone number & email (needs to be verified).
🔹 Business Information – If registering as an organization, provide the company type (NGO, business, educational, etc.).
3️⃣ Verify Your Identity & Pay the Registration Fee
✅ Verify your email and phone number.
✅ Pay the one-time registration fee of $25 USD (non-refundable).
💡 This fee helps Google maintain a secure app ecosystem.
4️⃣ Provide App & Business Information
In this step, you’ll answer a few questions about your app:
✔ Number of apps you plan to publish.
✔ App monetization – Will your app include in-app purchases or ads?
✔ App category – What type of apps will you be publishing?
5️⃣ Accept Terms & Conditions
Before completing your registration:
✅ Agree to Google’s Developer Distribution Agreement.
✅ Accept Play Console policies to ensure compliance.
6️⃣ Submit & Wait for Approval
Once everything is completed, Google will review your application. Approval typically takes a few hours to a couple of days.
Once approved, you can log in to Play Console, upload your app, and start publishing! 🎉
