Design 3 Alternative Spider-Man Suit Designs with AI

What if Spider-Man had three completely different suits from alternate universes? The possibilities are almost endless when you start imagining how the same hero could look in another version of the multiverse. One suit could have a darker style, another could introduce a major upgrade, while a third could take the character in a direction we’ve never seen before.

Ready to see what those designs could look like? In this tutorial, we’ll use an AI character design generator to bring them to life. We’ll use PixAI Studio with Tsubaki.3 to create three original fan-art interpretations of Spider-Man suits, each inspired by a different alternate-universe concept.

3 Spider-Man Suits We’re About to Create

Let’s start by visualizing the three Spider-Man suit concepts we’ll create.

  1. Stealth Suit: A darker Spider-Man suit designed for moving through the shadows and taking on nighttime missions. We’ll use black and deep red tones, low-light materials, subtle glowing details, and minimal accents to give it a quiet and mysterious appearance.
  2. Futuristic Suit: An advanced suit built around a high-tech aesthetic. Metallic details, glowing accents, and futuristic web patterns will give this version a sleek, technology-driven look.
  3. Streetwear Suit: A casual urban take on Spider-Man’s iconic look. This design will feature a hooded jacket, layered streetwear, sneakers, and familiar Spider-Man color references to create a New York-inspired style.

These three directions will give us a clear creative goal for each design. If you can already picture them, let’s bring those ideas to life.

Step 1 — Set Up Your New PixAI Studio Workspace

To get started, we need to add an Image Node to the workspace. Find the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas, click Add Node, and select Image.

Step 2 — Add an Image Node to Your Workspace

We need to select a node to start. You’ll find the toolbar at the bottom of your canvas. Click Add Node and choose Image.

Selecting Image will add an Image Node where we can begin generating our AI images. Once the node is added, a prompt field will appear. This is where we’ll enter the prompts for each Spider-Man suit design.

For beginners, it’s best to leave the default settings unchanged unless you have a reason to adjust them.

Step 3 — Choose Tsubaki.3 for Your AI Suit Designs

Select the Image Node and look for the model selector below the prompt field. Choose Tsubaki.3. We’ll use the same model across all three Spider-Man suit concepts to keep the workflow consistent.

Step 4 — Create a Base Prompt for Spider-Man

Let’s begin by creating a basic Spider-Man character description. We’ll use this same base prompt for all three suit concepts, then adjust specific details depending on the suit variation. Starting with one consistent description makes the process easier while keeping Spider-Man’s core visual identity recognizable throughout the designs.

Let’s go with this prompt: “Spider-Man, full-body hero character design, clear costume details, centered pose, simple composition, plain background, sharp focus”.

Click Generate and wait for the basic suit design to appear.

Step 5 — Design Your First Suit: Stealth Spider-Man

For our Stealth Spider-Man, we want to create a darker design with a mysterious and low-profile feel. Go back to the visual elements we defined earlier and choose the details that best fit this concept. Then, add those descriptions to the base prompt.

Use this prompt: “Spider-Man, full-body stealth hero character design, black and deep red suit with low light materials, subtle glowing details and minimal accents, dark mysterious aesthetic, centered pose, clear costume details, simple composition, urban background, sharp focus”

Next, click the (+) sign on the right side of the base Image Node and drag it toward the empty area of the canvas to create a dependent node. Select Image, enter the stealth version of the base prompt, and click Generate.

If you’re not satisfied with the stealth variation, you can regenerate it and make further adjustments. Tweak the costume description as needed, then generate again until you’re happy with the final look.

Final result:

Slealth Spider-Man

Step 6 — Design Your Second Suit: Futuristic Spider-Man

Now let’s take Spider-Man in a futuristic direction and create a suit that looks like it belongs in the next generation of superhero technology. Reuse the same workflow from the previous suit, but this time focus on high-tech details. Think metallic materials, neon lighting, and a futuristic environment such as a high-tech ship to reinforce the concept.

First, update the prompt, then click and drag the (+) sign to create a dependent node. Select Image and click Generate once the prompt is ready.

Use this prompt: “Spider-Man, full-body futuristic hero character design, sleek high-tech suit, metallic details, glowing accents, futuristic glowing web patterns, centered pose, clear costume details, simple composition, futuristic high-tech ship background, sharp focus”

Step 7 — Design Your Third Suit: Streetwear Spider-Man

For this final variation, let’s give Spider-Man a more casual, edgy, and urban-inspired look. Add another Image Node, update the prompt with the new costume details, and click Generate.

Out of the three suit concepts, this version will have the biggest change in appearance. Coming up with the right elements can be challenging, so go back to the description we created earlier for the Streetwear Suit and use it as your visual guide. Picture how you want the full scene to look before building the prompt.

To capture the streetwear aesthetic, we’ll need details like a hooded jacket, sneakers, and a graffiti-covered wall to set the right mood and environment. Once you have the elements in mind, tweak the prompt.

Step 8 — Explore the Differences Between Your Three Suit Designs

Now let’s look at the three Spider-Man suit variations we generated and put them side by side. Comparing the designs will help us see how each concept changes the character’s overall style and appearance.

Spider-Man Suits Comparison

By refining the base prompt, we were able to turn one Spider-Man design into three distinct suit variations. We kept the original character description as our foundation, then added different colors, settings, and outfit details to match the mood of each concept.

The Stealth Suit combines dark tones with subtle glowing details for a mysterious appearance. The Futuristic Suit adds high-tech elements, glowing accents, and an advanced ship setting to strengthen its futuristic feel. Meanwhile, the Streetwear Suit takes a more casual and urban direction with a city-inspired setting.

Of the three, the Stealth Suit stays closest to the original design because it retains the familiar Spider-Man colors and core visual elements. The Streetwear Suit creates the biggest transformation, turning the original costume into a completely different casual urban outfit.

Create More Spider-Man Outfit Concepts

If you want to create more suit or outfit concepts, there’s no need to rewrite the entire prompt for every new variation. With an AI character design generator, you can keep the same base character description and simply change the costume direction to explore new looks. This keeps the character recognisable while allowing you to experiment with different versions.

You can try different variations like:

  • Fantasy Spider-Man
  • Samurai Spider-Man
  • Cyberpunk Spider-Man
  • School/Academy AU
  • Winter Spider-Man
  • Villain-inspired Spider-Man

Tips for Designing Better AI Character Outfits

Changing character outfits can become challenging, especially when working with three different design directions as we did in this tutorial. The goal isn’t to keep adding random props or details, but to make each outfit feel intentional, distinctive, and still connected to the character. Before entering your next prompt, keep these tips in mind to make your instructions clearer and easier to manage:

  • Keep the base character description consistent.
  • Focus on one major costume change at a time.
  • Make sure the outfit stays clearly visible in the composition.
  • Avoid backgrounds that are too detailed or distracting.
  • Choose a few strong keywords for materials and colors.
  • Generate several versions before selecting your favorite.
  • Keep every variation in the same workspace for easier comparison.

With a more focused approach, designing AI character outfits becomes much easier and more intentional. Try applying these techniques to your own Spider-Man concept or an original character. Experiment with different ideas, refine your prompts as you go, and choose the design that best represents your character.

Share Your Favorite Cinematic Creations on PixAI

After exploring three different suit concepts, it’s time to pick your favorite and share it with other fans and creators.

Of the designs we created in this tutorial, the futuristic Spider-Man is my favorite. We’ve seen the iconic Spider-Man suit evolve across different versions of the character, yet he always remains recognizable. The futuristic design follows that same idea. The glowing details and metallic bodysuit give it a fresh look without making it feel disconnected from Spider-Man.

While the Stealth Suit stays closer to the original design, both the Futuristic and Streetwear versions introduce much bigger changes to the costume and its details. Still, the futuristic version feels like the most natural variation to me. I could easily imagine another Spider-Man from the future wearing this kind of suit. What do you think?

If you want to create your own version or take the futuristic suit even further, you can check out the officially published work on PixAI:

Make a New Design for the Contest

It’s time to take your creativity in a new multiverse direction. Your Contest entry doesn’t have to use any of the three suit designs we created earlier. Instead, you can choose one Spider-Man concept and turn it into a separate finished artwork that follows the current Contest theme and rules.

You can try ideas like:

  • Spider-Man on a rooftop at night
  • Spider-Man overlooking city lights
  • Spider-Man swinging through the skyscrapers
  • A rainy city scene
  • A neon nighttime scene
  • A cinematic nighttime patrol scene

Use one of these ideas as a starting point, or come up with your own concept. Just make sure your Contest submission is created as a complete standalone scene rather than one of the suit variations from this tutorial.
