Why? How? What? - A Gist on Hacktoberfest

WHY?

Let's first try to answer, as in why exactly Hacktoberfest? There are a lot of developers, especially students, who have just dived into this vast ocean of developing stuff, be in the coolest gadget or the simplest of codes. To all of them, including me, such an opportunity to code for open-source repos, publicly, and to gain recognition for it is quite a big deal! It does really boost the confidence and want us to contribute more towards other projects. Additionally, the fact that it is open to almost any hot topic of the day is exciting. It a great way to have insights on current trends, contribute to them and let's us know where we stand...whilst still giving room for improvement through constructive-feedback via comments from the Author.

HOW?

Open source is changing the world ā€“ one pull request at a time. And it can be anybody who is changing the world, can be you, can be me...anybody for the matter with just one GitHub Account will do good. The joy of contribution is worldly, and to have the Pull Request accepted does really set standards on the code that the coder/dev provides, which in-turn let us know for ourselves, if the code that we've provided is up to the mark or not and hence making it better with every moving step. It can be a be a bug fix, improvement, or even a documentation change!

WHAT?

Well, Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source software run by DigitalOcean in partnership with GitHub and Twilio. It is an insightful step by DigitalOcean to encourage developers to contribute to open-source projects on GitHub and is open to everyone in on a global scale! Whether you're a developer, student learning to code, event host, or even a company...it doens't matter, by your participation you help drive growth of open source and make positive contributions to an ever-growing community. All backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to complete the challenge.

I'm definitely jumping-in next year too!
