Autonomous Chess Analysis Agent: From PGN to YouTube in Minutes 🏆♟️

This is a submission for the Runner H "AI Agent Prompting" Challenge

What I Built

The Problem: Chess Content Creation is Time-Consuming

Creating quality chess content is incredibly labor-intensive. Chess coaches and content creators spend hours:

  • Manually analyzing games move-by-move
  • Calculating engine evaluations
  • Writing detailed analysis documents
  • Crafting engaging YouTube scripts
  • Coordinating document sharing and notifications

What if you could upload a PGN file and have a complete chess analysis package delivered to your inbox automatically?

The Solution: Autonomous Chess Analysis Agent

I've built an AI agent that transforms a simple PGN chess file into professional-grade content completely autonomously using Runner H. Here's what it does:

🎯 Input: A PGN chess game file

📋 Output:

  • Complete chess analysis report (Google Doc)
  • Ready-to-film YouTube script with timestamps (Google Doc)
  • Email notification with links and game highlights

How It Works

Step 1: Intelligent Game Parsing
The agent extracts all critical information:

  • Player names, ratings, and game metadata
  • Opening identification with ECO codes
  • Complete move sequence analysis
  • Game result and termination method

Step 2: Deep Chess Analysis
For every single move, the agent:

  • Simulates engine analysis (depth 15+)
  • Calculates position evaluations
  • Classifies moves (Brilliant, Good, Inaccuracy, Mistake, Blunder)
  • Identifies tactical themes (pins, forks, skewers, sacrifices)
  • Tracks win probability shifts

Step 3: Professional Documentation
Creates a comprehensive analysis report with:

  • Move-by-move breakdown with evaluations
  • Critical moment identification
  • Alternative scenario analysis ("What if..." timelines)
  • Specific learning points for improvement

Step 4: YouTube Content Creation
Generates a 12-minute video script featuring:

  • Dramatic opening hook
  • Structured content with timestamps
  • Viewer interaction moments
  • Clear visual descriptions for editing
  • Educational takeaways and call-to-action

Step 5: Automated Delivery
Sends email notification with:

  • Direct links to both Google Documents
  • Game highlights summary
  • Educational difficulty rating

Demo

Here's the Youtube video for demonstration:

How I Used Runner H

The agent uses sophisticated prompting to:

  • Maintain chess accuracy and terminology
  • Generate consistent, professional formatting
  • Create engaging, educational content
  • Coordinate multiple output formats

Getting Started

  1. Setup: Configure Runner H with Google Docs and email access
  2. Upload: Drop your PGN file into the system
  3. Wait: Let the agent work its magic (typically 5-10 minutes)
  4. Receive: Get your complete analysis package via email

Sample Output Quality

The agent produces analysis like:

Move 23: Qh5+ g6
Best for White: Qh5+ (Evaluation: +2.1)
Best for Black: Kg8 (Evaluation: +1.8)
Position Evaluation: +1.2 → +2.1 (+0.9)
Analysis: Brilliant tactical shot! The queen sacrifice forces Black's king into a vulnerable position, though the text move g6 makes the position even worse for Black.

Use Case & Impact

This chess analysis agent perfectly demonstrates Runner H's vision of autonomous work. It takes a complex, multi-step creative process and transforms it into a single-prompt solution. Chess content creators can literally wake up to fully analyzed games and ready-to-film scripts in their inbox.

The agent handles the boring, repetitive parts (calculation, formatting, coordination) while preserving the creative and educational elements that make chess content valuable.

Try It Yourself

Want to see your own chess games analyzed? This agent can process any PGN file and deliver professional-quality analysis within minutes. Perfect for:

  • Analyzing your tournament games
  • Creating chess content for social media
  • Studying master games
  • Teaching chess concepts
