If you freelance in crypto, the failure mode is not “didn’t get paid.” It is “got paid into the same address as last month’s three clients and now tax software thinks it’s one transfer.”
Minimum viable invoicing
- Quote USD. Settle USDC (or BTC if that is the relationship).
- One address per invoice. Not your ENS. Not your MetaMask default.
- A PDF a human AP clerk can forward. Plus a pay link for the ones who will actually pay on-chain.
- A record of rate lock and tx hash when you close the books.
You do not need a payment processor balance. You need matching. A hosted Collect-style flow beats a Notion page with a QR.
What “best for freelancers” should mean
Low ceremony, not “free forever with ads.” Flat subscription beats 1% of a $20k invoice. Non-custodial beats “we’ll send USDC to you on Friday.”
Settlematic Collect is built for that shape. We will not pretend every freelancer needs Gateway (sandbox) or a full ERP. If you issue four invoices a month, you still should not reuse one address.
