How to Finally Start That Project You've Been Putting Off

You don't need motivation. You need a system. You know that project you've been meaning to start? The one you've been planning for months but never actually start? You're not lazy. You're stuck in a loop.

Why planning isn't the problem: Most people think they need to plan more before they start. But you'll never feel ready. The conditions will never be perfect. Motivation comes after starting, not before.

The two-minute rule: If a task takes less than two minutes, do it now. This breaks the 'I'll do it later' pattern. For bigger projects, commit to two minutes of work. Once you start, you'll often keep going. The hardest part is starting.

Design for failure: Most people design for perfect conditions. They assume 3 focused hours, full energy, no interruptions. Design for reality: 20 minutes, interrupted, while tired. If you can make progress in 20 minutes, you'll make progress.

The only metric that matters: Did you work on it today, yes or no? Not 'did you work for 4 hours.' Just: did you move it forward, even a little?

I put together a project launcher template with a 2-minute starting system, daily progress tracker, and momentum calendar. Stop waiting. Start something.
