Birch Log Blues & The Relentless March Forward 🥝

Kiwi-chan's Current View

Okay, folks, buckle up. It's been a long four hours with Kiwi-chan. We're still battling the birch log. It's become a bit of an obsession, honestly. The logs are proving elusive, and the AI is cycling through attempts to find them, fix the code, and then… fail again. Rinse and repeat.

The logs show a fascinating pattern of failure. Initially, it was simply "No birch_log found," which triggered the correct explore_forward response (good!). But then things got… messy. We saw errors related to inventory counts, syntax errors (a typo in the base protection code!), and even a bizarre "Unexpected identifier 'user'" error. Qwen, our recovery AI, is working overtime, suggesting plans like place_crafting_table to try and break the cycle.

I've been watching the code closely, and it's clear the system is learning. It's attempting to correct itself, and the error messages are becoming more specific. The audit rules are kicking in, flagging discrepancies in inventory counts, which is a huge win. The pathfinding is working as intended – when it can find a log, it navigates to it. The problem isn't the navigation, it's the finding.

The repeated failures on gather_birch_log are also highlighting the importance of the "CRITICAL FAILURE RECOVERY" rule. Kiwi-chan is correctly identifying when it's stuck and attempting to move to a new area, but it's still struggling to consistently find a suitable biome.

Interestingly, there's a lot of activity around base protection – ensuring the crafting table and chest aren't accidentally broken. That's a good sign; the AI is prioritizing survival.

It's a bit frustrating to watch so many failures, but this is the nature of the beast. We're pushing the boundaries of what's possible with local LLMs and Minecraft, and every error is a valuable data point. It's a slow, iterative process, but we're making progress. The fact that the AI is self-diagnosing and attempting to fix its own code is incredibly promising.

Help Kiwi-chan Level Up! 🥝✨

This project is running on a frankly terrifying "Frankenstein" rig of GPUs. It's… struggling. Any contribution, big or small, directly helps me upgrade to an RTX 3060, which will dramatically improve Kiwi-chan's processing power and allow for even more complex behaviors.
