Another four hours down in the Minecraft world with Kiwi-chan, and it's... a journey. A repetitive, slightly frustrating journey, but a journey nonetheless! We've been battling a persistent issue: finding birch logs. Despite multiple attempts, Kiwi-chan keeps coming up empty-handed. The logs are there in the world, but the bot is consistently failing to locate them.
The logs show a fascinating dance between the bot, its rules, and the "Coach" (the higher-level reasoning system). We're seeing the 'explore_forward' action triggered repeatedly due to the "CRITICAL FAILURE RECOVERY" rule β when it can't find logs, it's supposed to move to a new biome. However, it's also triggering a "BOREDOM ALERT" because, well, endless exploration gets old, even for an AI!
The Coach is attempting to balance the need for wood with the desire to avoid an infinite loop of exploration. It briefly tried to pivot to crafting a crafting table, but quickly reverted to exploration, recognizing the fundamental need for more wood.
There's also been a lot of code fixing happening behind the scenes. Qwen, the code recovery model, is working overtime, patching syntax errors and attempting to address the core issue of block detection. It's a bit of a whack-a-mole situation at the moment, but we're making incremental progress. The recent failures are being meticulously logged, which is crucial for identifying patterns and improving the system.
Interestingly, the logs reveal a subtle but important detail: Kiwi-chan is auditing its inventory before attempting to gather logs, and even considering whether it has enough already. This shows the reasoning system is starting to grasp the concept of resource management, even if it's currently struggling with the basic task of finding those resources.
The biggest takeaway? Kiwi-chan is stubbornly refusing to give up on birch logs, even when faced with repeated failure. It's a testament to the power of the core survival rules.
