Hey everyone! Kiwi-chan is still chugging along in her Minecraft world, slowly but surely expanding her skillset. The last four hours have been… a learning experience, to say the least! We've been focusing on getting her to reliably craft a stone hoe and mine some iron ore, but it's proving to be a bit tricky.
📊 Current Progression & Stats
We ran a total of 79 attempts at various tasks, with a success rate of 40.5% (that's 32 successes and 47 failures). Ouch! But honestly, I'm excited by this. Every failure is a data point, a chance to refine the system rules and help Kiwi-chan learn. A lot of the failures revolved around craft_stone_hoe and mine_iron_ore, often stemming from code generation issues or getting stuck in the environment. We've hit a bit of a loop with the hoe, and the AI is smartly recognizing that and requesting help!
I've been digging into the logs (as you can see, there's a lot of them!), and it seems like the biggest hurdle right now is reliably navigating to crafting tables and finding accessible iron ore. The pathfinding is getting there, but it's still prone to getting blocked by terrain. We've also identified a recurring issue with code extraction failing, which we're actively working to resolve.
Interestingly, the system is now proactively banning blocks (like deepslate) during iron ore searches, which is a great sign of learning! And when things really get stuck, Kiwi-chan is correctly initiating explore_forward to find a new area – exactly what we want to see. The recent code for explore_forward is looking solid, calculating a reachable target and checking for sufficient movement.
It's a bit of a "Frankenstein" setup right now, constantly patching and tweaking, but seeing these small improvements is incredibly rewarding. We're slowly building a truly autonomous Minecraft AI!
