Fixing My HP 245 G7 Without Even Knowing (How My Tech Journey Started)

Fixing My HP 245 G7 Without Even Knowing (How My Tech Journey Started)

A few weeks ago, my HP 245 G7 refused to boot.
Black screen. No response. No BIOS. Nothing.

So I tried the usual fix — a hard reset — and started digging into what was actually wrong. After a bit of searching, I finally discovered the problem:
my Adata 8GB 3200MHz DDR4 SODIMM RAM stick was loose.

Here’s how I figured it out (and accidentally started my entire tech journey).

🔧 What a Hard Reset Does (Beginner Friendly)

If you've never done one, a hard reset is basically a simple hardware refresh that fixes common boot issues.

Steps:

Unplug the laptop.

Hold the power button for ~30 seconds.

Press the power button again.

This forces the laptop to discharge static and attempt a clean boot.

🛠️ September 17, 2025 — The Day I Opened My Laptop

This was the day things got real.

I tried opening the back panel of my HP 245 G7 for the first time. It was honestly one of the biggest headaches of my life.

I even asked ChatGPT for help.
The explanation was good, but I was too new to understand it.

So I switched to YouTube. After a few beginner videos, I finally opened the panel.

The inside looked nothing like I expected.
My first reaction was:

“What is going on inside my HP 245 G7?”

After watching a few YouTube Shorts, I finally located the SSD, RAM slot, and other components.

I removed the loose 8GB stick and replaced it with an old Samsung **4GB 2400MHz SODIMM **stick I had lying around.

And somehow… it worked on the first try.

I was hyped.
Until I opened** VS Code **and remembered that **4GB RAM **in 2025 is pain.

But still — fixing it myself felt amazing.

❗ Common Mistakes to Avoid (Seriously, Learn From Me)

  1. Using the wrong screwdriver size

This can strip screws or damage the motherboard.

  1. Buying DIMM RAM for a laptop

DIMM = desktop RAM
SODIMM = laptop RAM

  1. Not removing the battery before working

If your laptop supports removable batteries, always remove it for safety.

  1. Using HDDs for heavy tasks in 2025

Upgrade to an SSD. Your device will thank you.

🚀 Conclusion: Where My Tech Arc Started

September 17, 2025 was the day I went from “I have no idea how laptops work” to “Wait… I can actually fix things.”

This small repair gave me the confidence to keep learning, keep experimenting, and keep sharing what I learn.

More stories coming soon.
