Honestly, before joining engineering, I barely knew anything about programming languages or the technologies we use every day.
But there was something that always fascinated me: data.
I used to wonder how such massive amounts of data are generated, processed, stored, and managed every single day. Think about it. Almost everything we do digitally generates data in some form. The scale of it fascinated me, and the idea of working with something that operates on such a global level was really interesting.
I knew I wanted to pursue Computer Science with a specialization in Data Science. But as I thought more about it, I realised I had questions that went beyond data itself.
How do computer systems actually work? What's happening behind the applications we use? How is data stored, processed, and transferred? And how does Data Science fit into this entire picture?
I didn't just want to understand the data. I wanted to understand the technology behind it, too.
That's when choosing CSE (Data Science) started making sense to me.
I wanted to learn the fundamentals of computer science, understand how systems and architectures work, and at the same time explore how data can be analysed to find patterns, generate insights, and solve problems.
One thing I have noticed about myself is that I'm rarely satisfied with just knowing what something is. I want to know why it exists and how it actually works. And I think that curiosity played a big role in my decision.
Of course, when I made this choice, I didn't know exactly what I was getting into. I had a lot to learn, and honestly, I still do.
But that's what makes this journey interesting. Every new concept introduces another question, and every answer opens the door to something else.
For me, choosing CSE (Data Science) was about wanting to understand both the science behind computing and the possibilities that data brings to it.
This is one of the first things I wanted to share as I begin documenting my learning journey here.
