Everybody I know has the same graveyard. It lives in their phone's notes app. Half-written business ideas. A pricing thought from the shower. A to-do list from three weeks ago. A voice memo they never listened to again.
I had hundreds of these. Then I stopped treating them like junk and started treating them like raw material. One paste into ChatGPT, one short instruction, and the mess turns into a plan, a draft, or a product outline. Here is exactly how I do it.
The problem is not your ideas. It is your process.
A scattered note is not a bad idea. It is an unfinished one. Most people open ChatGPT, paste the note, and type "make this better." That gives you a prettier mess. What you need is a repeatable process: the same steps, every time, that turn raw notes into finished output.
I call it a brain dump skill. It is a short instruction pack you paste once, and from then on your AI knows the job: read my mess, ask me what is missing, and hand me back something I can actually use.
The one-paste workflow
Copy this into ChatGPT (or Claude, or Grok, it works in all of them), then paste your messy notes right after it:
You are my idea refinery. Here is my raw brain dump. Do this in order:
- List every distinct idea hiding in my notes, one line each.
- For each idea, tell me in plain words what the finished version could look like: a product, a post, a plan, or a task.
- Pick the ONE idea most worth doing this week and explain why in two sentences.
- Ask me up to 3 questions that would help you turn that top idea into a real first draft.
Do not use jargon. Keep everything short enough to read on a phone.
Try it with three old notes tonight. The difference between this and "make this better" is night and day, because you gave the AI a job description instead of a vague wish.
Why a job description beats a prompt
A prompt is a one-time ask. A skill is a standing job. When the instructions live in one pasteable block, you reuse it forever, you improve it over time, and you can hand it to a friend who gets the same result. That is the whole idea behind installable AI skills: small instruction packs that give your AI a specific job, whether you are technical or not.
If you use Claude Code or another agent that supports the open SKILL.md format, the same workflow drops in as a file and runs automatically. If you are not technical, the copy-paste version above does the same job with zero setup.
Where to go from here
I give away the starter version of this workflow for free, along with a few other skills I actually use every day. Grab them here: https://github.com/lilnickyai/claude-code-skills-samples
I also send one genuinely useful AI skill every week, free, to my email list. No spam, no fluff, just the skill and how to use it: https://lil-nicky-ai.kit.com/d26c1ccfd6
And if you want the full Brain Dump to Product pack, the one that takes you from scattered notes to a finished, sellable outline step by step, it is $19 in my store: https://littlenova5.gumroad.com/
Your notes app is not a graveyard. It is inventory. Go mine it.
