SalePro POS and inventory workflows by LionCoders

Product perspective from LionCoders, the team behind SalePro.

A successful checkout is only the beginning of a business transaction. The next questions are practical: what remains in stock, what payment is outstanding, and what should the team review at the end of the day?

For developers evaluating business software, this makes the connection between workflows more useful to examine than the number of items on a feature list.

Where SalePro fits

SalePro is LionCoders' self-hosted Laravel application for POS, inventory, accounting, and business operations. It supports sales and payment workflows, purchasing, warehouse stock, and operational reporting. Restaurant, HRM, and online-commerce capabilities extend the business suite.

The self-hosted model gives the business control of its deployment environment. Application source code is supplied under the applicable licence; this should not be confused with unrestricted redistribution rights.

Evaluate a workflow, not just a screen

Consider an illustrative retailer that receives stock, sells several items, and later handles a return. A useful evaluation follows that entire sequence rather than stopping after printing the first receipt.

Try these questions with representative demo data:

  1. Receiving: How will staff identify a product and record an incoming quantity?
  2. Selling: Can the checkout process reflect the way customers actually pay?
  3. Exceptions: What happens when an item is returned or an entry needs correction?
  4. Reconciliation: Can the team explain the day's movements and outstanding amounts?

These are evaluation questions, not a report of a customer implementation. Their purpose is to expose missing requirements before a deployment becomes business-critical.

An illustrative acceptance test

Choose one product and write down its starting quantity. Record an incoming delivery, complete a sale, and process a supported return. At each step, compare the resulting records with the expected business outcome.

Then repeat the exercise using different staff roles. Ask someone who will use the system daily to perform it without coaching. Note confusing labels, unnecessary steps, and any decisions that require manager approval.

A short test like this gives a development team a concrete conversation: which behavior is configuration, which needs training, and which requires additional engineering?

Make customization requirements specific

LionCoders also provides SalePro customization and custom software development, including integrations, reports, workflow changes, and additional modules. The right scope depends on the business requirement.

A useful customization brief describes the current process, the desired result, the people involved, and a worked example. Include an acceptance condition: what would make the change complete and usable?

For instance, “we need a different report” is hard to estimate. A sample report with its filters, calculation rules, and intended user gives everyone something concrete to review.

Start with the business process

SalePro is intended for running a business environment. SalePro SaaS addresses the separate requirement of operating a platform for multiple tenant businesses; we will cover that product in a companion article.

Start your evaluation with a real process and its exceptions. A clear business scenario is a better foundation for a software decision than a long list of unchecked assumptions.

What is the hardest handoff in your business software: checkout, inventory, payments, or reporting?
