LoopTroop 0.6: Make Long Coding Tasks Easier to Follow

#ai

Version 0.6.0 brings the big changes. Version 0.6.1 fixes bugs and makes some commands faster.

A small code change can fit in one prompt. A bigger coding task may need questions, a plan, several coding steps, tests, and a proposed change on GitHub. It gets hard to follow if all the decisions and errors are buried in one long AI chat.

LoopTroop helps manage that longer job. Several AI models help make a plan. LoopTroop breaks it into small steps, then OpenCode, the coding tool, works through them. Each task gets its own working folder, so you can review the changes before sharing them on GitHub.

LoopTroop 0.6 is one update. Version 0.6.0 brought the main changes below. Version 0.6.1 fixes bugs and is the version to install now.

⏭️ See why something was skipped

You can leave a note when you skip an interview question or manual test, accept a plan with gaps, cancel, or finish before changes are merged. The note stays with the task, so you can look back and see why it took that path.

💬 Answer each AI model in its own tab

Questions from different models now have separate tabs in the app. You can choose how long LoopTroop waits for an answer, from one to sixty minutes. The timer stops when you start responding. If time runs out, the question is declined so the model can continue.

The v0.6.1 update also lets you stop or retry one model without stopping the others. If you want to move on, you can skip every waiting question at once.

🔌 Use OpenCode v1 or v2

LoopTroop now works with OpenCode v2 as well as v1. You can use either version.

💾 Pick up more easily when a run stops

The 0.6.0 update makes it easier to continue after a crash, restart, cancellation, or retry. LoopTroop can also see when GitHub has merged your proposed code change and finish the task, even if the app is closed.

The v0.6.1 bug fixes make it easier to see what went wrong and continue with the task. They fix OpenCode startup problems, make connection errors clearer, improve how LoopTroop finds the model you chose, and handle unexpected AI replies better.

📜 Keep more of the story in the logs

Logs now keep more details after a reconnect, retry, or cancellation. This makes it easier to see what the AI did and where it stopped.

✨ Make the workspace easier to use

It’s easier to move around the app with a keyboard, and page controls are better. Drafts and answers also stay with the right task when you switch between them.

🛡️ Make downloads and commands safer

LoopTroop got more careful about the commands it runs, the files it reads, and your login details. Stable downloads include a way to check that they came from the project.

🪟 Pick an install method

Windows users can now install with Chocolatey or WinGet, and Scoop works again. Node 24.18.0 and newer can use the npm version that comes with Node, so there’s no need to install a particular npm version separately.

🧪 More tests, fewer surprises

The number of passing tests grew from 3,495 to 8,099 across 500 test files. They check 93.19% of the app’s code lines. In other words, tests check more of the app before a release.

⚡ Two speed checks

A speed check that re-read the same 64-step plan went from 24.3 milliseconds to 0.68 milliseconds. That check runs about 36 times faster; it doesn’t mean every coding task is faster by that amount.

The v0.6.1 notes say commands you run in a terminal can be up to 20 times faster. In recorded checks, status and help took about 0.3 seconds, and install packages were about 30 MB smaller.

What LoopTroop does

LoopTroop is for coding jobs that are too big for a quick edit. In the app, each job is called a “ticket.” AI models help make a plan, OpenCode handles small steps in a separate working folder, and you can review the changes before sharing them on GitHub.

LoopTroop runs on your computer. The prompts and files you send still go to the AI service you choose in OpenCode. OpenCode can run commands on your computer, so use a virtual machine or throwaway environment for work you leave running on its own.
