I added an AI helper to a product and only later realized Article 50 of the EU AI Act expects a transparency notice wherever users interact with an AI system. I'm a developer, not a compliance officer, and "write a legally-flavored notice" is not a task I wanted to start from a blank page.
TransparaKit is a small tool I built for exactly this. You paste a user-facing AI touchpoint — the copy, the flow, where the model sits in the experience — and it drafts an Art. 50 transparency notice. Not a final legal text, a draft you can hand to whoever actually owns the sign-off.
What the draft actually gives you
The output is structured around what Art. 50 cares about: is the user told they're interacting with AI, and is the notice placed where they'll see it. The tool returns a readiness read on that question, notice copy themes you can build from, and the gaps it can identify in what you pasted.
Two flags matter more than the prose. One marks likely synthetic content — if your touchpoint generates or manipulates image, audio, or video, that disclosure has its own obligations. The other marks emotion-recognition territory, where the rules get stricter. Neither flag is a verdict; both are "here is a spot you should look at," which is the kind of nudge that's easy to miss on your own.
Where AI does belong in this picture
I'm not pretending a model replaces a lawyer. What the model is good at here is turning a rambling product description into candidate notice language and surfacing themes you might not have phrased. The deciding is still yours. That's why the tool labels itself decision-support, not "compliance done."
What it deliberately does not do
- No legal advice. The output is a draft and a set of flags. Whether it satisfies an auditor is a question for a human with the responsibility.
- No guarantee of completeness. If you paste a thin description, you get a thin draft with gaps listed — not a confident notice that reads as complete.
- No monitoring. It drafts once from what you give it; it does not watch your product change and re-flag you later.
- No filing, no registration. Article 50 is one obligation among many; this tool touches only the transparency-notice corner.
TransparaKit runs in the browser for $19/mo. If the draft misses a flag you expected, that's the kind of gap worth telling me about — it helps the next pass.
