Like yourself, I have spent most of my life in construction but it’s a career I have always disliked so, at the young age of 55, I’m trying to transfer into tech, not easy at that age though! I first started my coding journey during lockdown, attended an online boot camp in ‘21 but unfortunately whilst still job hunting, cancer came and knocked me sideways. The physical and mental toll it took meant I stopped coding for a long time but I’ve now restarted my learning and aim to get back to a job hunting stage asap.
You’re correct regarding boot camps. I feel it was a bit rushed and as I was, unbeknownst to me, beginning to feel the effects of cancer at the time, it wasn’t always easy to keep up.I have looked at apprenticeships but so many of them pay an extremely small salary and I have quite high overheads as I was self employed for most of the time I was ill. I will keep a lookout for anything suitable.
Good luck with your journey and keep us all updated on your progress.
