Looking for a compact single-board computer that delivers real performance without the bulk? Meet the Orange Pi Zero 4.


This board keeps the same handy 50 × 55 × 1.2 mm footprint as the Zero 3, yet it brings a clear step up in processing power, connectivity, and flexibility. At its core is the Allwinner A733, a 12 nm SoC with a dual-core Cortex-A76 + six-core Cortex-A55 design clocked up to 2.0 GHz. The heterogeneous octa-core layout balances strong single-threaded performance with efficient multi-core workloads. It also includes an Imagination PowerVR BXM-4-64 GPU and a dedicated 3 TOPS NPU, so lightweight on-device AI tasks become practical without relying on the cloud.

Memory configurations are flexible for a board this size, supporting LPDDR5, LPDDR4X, or LPDDR4 up to 16 GB. Storage options include onboard eMMC (up to 32 GB) or faster UFS (up to 128 GB), plus a microSD slot that accepts cards up to 128 GB. You can boot from high-speed internal storage while still having room for large datasets or media files.

Networking covers both wired and wireless needs well. A dedicated RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port provides stable high-speed connections, while Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 handle modern wireless requirements. Display output is equally capable: Mini HDMI 2.0 supports 4K at 60 fps, and the Type-C port adds USB 3.1 along with DisplayPort/eDP support, making dual-display setups straightforward for kiosks, signage, or development work.

Camera and expansion options further broaden its usefulness. Dual MIPI CSI interfaces (two 22-pin FPCs, 4-lane each) make computer-vision projects easy to implement. A 16-pin FPC exposes PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.1 for high-speed peripherals. Additional headers include a 13-pin connector with USB 2.0, I2C, UART, PWM, I2S digital audio, digital microphone support, IR receiver, and GPIO; a standard 26-pin GPIO header offering I2C, UART, PWM, SPI, and more GPIO pins; and a 2-pin fan header for optional active cooling. Power is simple: just a Type-C connection at 5 V / 3 A.

Orange Pi targets the Zero 4 at intelligent industrial gateways, compact machine-vision cores, pocket-sized edge servers, AIoT voice terminals, and similar embedded or edge applications. It also serves as a natural upgrade for anyone already using the Zero 3 who wants more CPU performance, modern wireless standards, higher memory capacity, and built-in AI acceleration while keeping the same physical size.
