I've tried this old switcheroo myself for far too long. I just keep getting back into my iPhone.
As a user, I just can't deal with the amount of tweaking it takes to get it working to your taste. And just how plain stupid it gets from there...
Having to relearn the whole UI after getting next OS or after switching from phone to phone or even changing themes or adding basics elements? What about soft buttons? What about notifications.
I rather having a "limited" device, because they say so when you can't change the font, than a phone that will always get between me and what I want to do. Getting work done. Your iPhone blows up? you get another one, and everything will work, perfect as ever, out of the box.
As a mobile developer, Android feeds me, but my designs are more in line with Apple's because of simplicity.
It's sad to hear your iPhone 6 is slow, maybe a clean install may work. Beside the flashy stuff you can add in Cydia, I believe that a responsive phone is far more valuable. It may be fun for a while, but it's detrimental to the experience, hence making people move to android, the land where "Unfortunately ..." every single process "... has stopped."

what phone did you have? that's no fault of Android, as my Nexus 6P has been more stable than any other iPhone I've ever had (and it's on 8.1 beta)
