Negative interactions are infrequent but highly visible, with consequences for project activity

  1. Address problematic behavior swiftly, politely, and publicly, to send a signal to potential contributors that such behavior isn’t typical or tolerated.
  2. Negative experiences have real consequences for project health.
  3. Give people tools to protect themselves.

This survey was initiated by Github in 2017, but many issues are still relevant in 2022.
