Waydroid team has packaged and uploaded Waydroid (new Anbox alternative) and its dependencies for Ubuntu to an APT repository at https://waydroid.ubuntu-web.org
Further, you can download and enjoy it on Ubuntu and related distributions:
sudo apt-get install waydroid && sudo waydroid init
