When everyone’s fighting for clicks and streams, sometimes you have to do the most radical thing you can: just drop. No algorithm. No overthinking. Just raw, human impulse.

CTB Blakkk’s debut single, “Gnarly,” is more than a track — it’s a line in the sand.

It’s the moment when hesitation gave way to action.

We sat down to talk about what it took to cross that line.

The Moment of Decision

What do you want the people to know?

“Gnarly out right now. We’re gonna get A-Duece some music out soon. We got a few other collaborators I’ve been working with. That’s gonna happen soon. Making a whole lotta magic happen this way — that’s it.”

This isn’t a one-off. It’s the opening shot of something bigger.

What moment made you say — ‘I’m actually going to put this song out’?

“Everybody was dropping and I was like I ain’t dropping right now. I gotta do something. Then Shawn was like: Drop, drop, drop. So I was like — Fuk it. I’ma drop.* At this point, I need to drop something.”

In an industry obsessed with perfect timing, sometimes the best move is to force the moment. CTB Blakkk did just that.

The Sound and the Story

What inspired the sound of the song?

“Bass-k made the beat. We were in the studio and I kind of just started feeling it. A bit of a freestyle that I just flowed.”

This wasn’t planned out. It wasn’t over-engineered.

It was felt — and that’s why it hits.

What artist shaped your sound, even if no one would guess it?

“There’s no one I can say specifically shaped my sound. I do have a lot of different influences though: Earth, Wind & Fire. Kendrick Lamar. Tyler, The Creator. S.O.S. Band. Just a wide variety of influences over time.”

The beauty of that? He’s pulling from across eras.

Not boxed in by one genre or moment.

What’s Next?

What’s next after this? Is it more music, visuals, collabs?

“I’m for sure dropping more music in the next few weeks to months. Testing things, seeing what the people might want next. Gonna get visuals done before the summer is over for sure.”

The debut isn’t the finish line — it’s the starting point.

Eyes on the Future

Fast forward a year from now — what would you want the headline to be?

“You can see that I made money from rapping. Having shows opened up for people. Maybe a magazine cover — Rolling Stone or XXL Freshman Class. Amazing progress.”

(My suggestion: something like ‘CTB Blakkk takes over the world.’)

The vision is bigger than just one drop.

It’s about making a mark that lasts.

The Real Message

When people hear the name CTB Blakkk, what do you want them to know?

“Chase The Bag — and also I’m lit.”

What does this song represent for you?

“Fun, having a good time with your friends. Forgetting about life. Because when you’re in a depressed state of mind, sometimes you need distractions you know? One of those things where I just needed to distract myself.”

Art in Motion

This interview isn’t just an update on a new single.

It’s a reminder of why we create in the first place.

In a world where everything is optimized for engagement, CTB Blakkk’s drop is a testament to what happens when you just move.

The duality of progress is real:

🔹 On one side — data, precision, timing.

🔹 On the other — gut feeling, real life, the human moment.

“Gnarly” is the sound of that second half.

The unfiltered side of the future.
