In 2009, I was seventeen and on the streets of Tallahassee. My world looked nothing like it does now. Back then, I was a kid making up slang in the trap house, abbreviating phrases like IDK and OMG before texting shorthand became its own dialect. One stuck out: DTF. Vulgar, sure. But in that moment, it felt like I was creating culture in real time.
And then a few years later, that same phrase hit pop culture. MTV, memes, t-shirts. Everywhere. I remember the moment I saw it and thought, “I said that first. But nobody will ever know.”
That was the moment I learned one of the hard truths of the future:
If you don’t claim it, it won’t be remembered
That same lesson hit me again when I had to rename my first real AI product. It was originally called Optimind — a name I was proud of, created with ChatGPT back when the vision was just forming. But it was taken. Trademarked. Registered. Claimed.
So I went back to the drawing board. And this time, I dug deeper.
I wanted something that felt real. Easy. Human. Like something your aunt could trust and your cousin could code with. And that’s when it hit me:
AINDY.
A play on “Andy.” Friendly. But smart. Real smart. And when I broke it down, it became:
Augmented Intelligence for New Dynamic Yields.
That was the birth of what’s now powering my entire AI ecosystem. A.I.N.D.Y. isn’t just a name. It’s a philosophy. A recursive engine. A modular system that keeps scaling as I do. It tracks word count across tools, compresses insights, trims language, and lets me build with speed.
What started as a copyright issue turned into a naming framework. What started as slang in the streets turned into systems in the cloud.
This is the Duality of Progress
On one side: constraints, legacy, rules, and paperwork. On the other: infinite iteration, identity shaping, naming what hasn’t been named.
And the truth is: I needed both. The old system showed me what not to do. The new one reminded me who I’ve always been.
So whether it’s slang, software, or selfhood — if you’re first, claim it. If you feel it, name it. Because in the age of AI, history remembers what you embed.
