I Read Pinterest's Trends Page. The Pin Counts Are Two Digits, Not Six.

Pinterest publishes a Trends board that rotates, and it looks like the kind of page you could treat as a popularity signal. So I opened nine of its entries on October 7, 2026 and wrote down what was actually on each one: the trend name, the pin count printed next to it, how old the trend was, and the related terms underneath.

Two things came out that I did not expect walking in.

First: the pin counts are small

Eau so cozy — 45 pins

Skinvested — 57 pins

Go copper this fall — 53 pins

Regency beauty is so romantic — 55 pins

Frosted soft glam makeup — 45 pins

Farm to face — 54 pins

Whimsical beauty — 83 pins

Cool-toned beauty — 55 pins

Trending lip combos to try — 67 pins

Forty-five to eighty-three. Two digits, not six.

If you assumed a trend on Pinterest carried hundreds of thousands of pins, look again at those numbers. Whatever they measure, it is not the size of the archive behind the topic. They read like new activity inside a window, which lines up with the age field — two weeks for most, a month for two.

Second: the trends chain into each other

Look at the related terms on Eau so cozy. The neighbouring entry is Skinvested. Skinvested's neighbour is Go copper this fall. That one points to Regency beauty is so romantic, which points to Frosted soft glam makeup, which points to Farm to face, and on down to Whimsical beauty and Cool-toned beauty.

Nine trends, one chain. Not nine independent topics — one sequence, each entry adjacent to the next.

Every one of the nine is a beauty topic. Which tells you what this particular board is: not a cross-category popularity ranking, but one curated aisle of one category, presented as a sequence.

What this changes

If you read the Trends page as "what is big on Pinterest right now," these numbers mislead you in two directions at once. The pin counts are far too small to represent scale, and the board is too narrow to represent the platform.

What the board is actually good for is the adjacency. The chain of nine tells you what Pinterest thinks sits next to what inside one category — a content-planning signal, just not the one the page appears to offer.

Method

Nine trend pages read on October 7, 2026, same session. Pin counts, age labels and related terms as served by the page. The page exposes no likes, saves or views to a logged-out visitor.
