Picture a DeFi protocol during market volatility — thousands of transactions flooding in simultaneously. Processing everything on the main chain would be unsustainable. Our execution layer batches these transactions off-chain, submitting only final results on-chain. Whether handling DeFi arbitrage trades or NFT marketplace surges, the execution layer maintains stable processing capacity.

Settlement Layer (ME Hub): The System’s Central Brain
Once the execution layer processes transactions, ME Hub serves as the “central brain” ensuring the trustworthiness and finality of results.

All execution outcomes are submitted to ME Hub for final confirmation. This layer not only verifies transaction correctness but also provides consensus and security mechanisms for the entire network. We also ensure that every transaction undergoes rigorous verification through Fraud Proof mechanisms. The settlement layer also handles the critical responsibility of cross-chain asset locking and release, providing the cornerstone for multi-chain ecosystem fund security.

Therefore, through the modular architecture, Rollups do not need to deploy independent validator nodes during construction, significantly reducing operational costs while inheriting ME Hub’s underlying consensus and security mechanisms.

Data Availability Layer: Reliable Data Assurance
The data availability layer is dedicated to storing and maintaining transaction data — often overlooked yet critically important in modular architecture.

Previously, Rollups posting data to Ethereum mainnet saw gas fees account for over 90% of total costs. ME’s data availability layer employs Data Availability Sampling (DAS) technology, allowing nodes to verify availability without downloading complete datasets, slashing costs to a fraction of the original. We’ve also implemented erasure coding, enabling the system to recover complete data from other nodes even when some data nodes temporarily go offline.

Security is paramount. Even in the face of network attacks or malicious behavior, the data availability layer provides reliable protection, with complete records of every user transaction available for audit at any time.

Embedded Modules: Providing Building Blocks for the Ecosystem
With a clear three-layer architecture in place, how do developers actually leverage it? This is where ME Network’s embedded module design delivers real value.
