Accurate thermodynamic and fluid dynamics calculations on jobsites have long been hampered by slow, subscription-gated desktop software or opaque cloud calculators that track user data.
We built HVACLogic — an open-access, client-side engineering framework designed for HVAC designers, commissioning technicians, and trade educators.
1. Core Engineering Principles
- Deterministic Physics: Implements exact standard formulations without empirical rounding — from the Colebrook-White turbulent friction equation and Huebscher circular equivalent diameter to ASHRAE Fundamentals psychrometrics and EPA Section 608 refrigerant saturation curves.
- Zero Database Footprint: Runs 100% in the client browser with zero customer data tracking, no mandatory user accounts, and zero project exfiltration.
- Offline Field Resilience: Uses a modern Service Worker PWA cache layer, enabling instant calculations in equipment rooms and basements without cellular connectivity.
2. Available Calculation Modules
The suite currently includes 21 specialized tools organized across 5 core disciplines:
- Airflow & Duct Sizing: Digital Ductulator, Flex Duct CFM Sizing Chart, and Manual D Total Equivalent Length.
- Cooling & Load Sizing: Manual J Whole-Home BTU Load and AC Model Number Decoder.
- Field Diagnostics & Refrigeration: Target Superheat & Subcooling Diagnostic, A2L Refrigerant PT Chart (R-454B, R-32, R-410A), and OEM Line-Set Weigh-In Sizer.
- Heating & Electrification: Cold-Climate Heat Pump Balance Point Sizer and Furnace AFUE Sizer.
- Building Science: Multi-layer Assembly R-Value & U-Factor Sizer and Envelope Infiltration Heat Loss.
3. Open Access & Methodology
The underlying mathematical models and validation benchmarks against ASHRAE golden reference datasets are documented openly in our whitepaper archived on the Internet Archive.
