The layout of color bar can definitely be improved to show more at once. Use the empty parts of the screen and make rectangle of colors.
So you want me to compact the colors together a little tighter?
Yes something like the hexagon layout here so you don't have to scroll horizontally

I tried that but it didn't really work. I'm updating the pixel art editor to have an expanded palette.
For interest, this retro library is 16 bit and has 16 colors only

Maybe you can make a few 16 bit color palettes that are themed, so one gets to pick colors from the lumo one or the pastel one or the fiery one.
Or maybe make a 32 bit and 128 bit etc option.
GIFs traditionally had 256 colors o think
That's actually a pretty good idea. When I have time, I'll think about adding about 256 different colors.
Okay, I added a bunch more colors. I don't think I'll add anymore in the future.
