I'm a friendly, non-dev, cisgender guy from NC who enjoys playing music/making noise, hiking, eating veggies, and hanging out with my best friend/wife + our 3 kitties + 1 greyhound.
I'm an amateur musician... mostly a singer/guitar player, but I dabble in synthesizers and drum machines too.
I also play in an aspiring band. We're currently trying to decide on a band name and have been messing around with our actual names (Michael, Ric, Jordan aka @jjklong, and Levi) to come up with something. So far, we've been calling ourselves The Jolly League of Marvelous Raptors; yeah, I know, it's super silly... perhaps a bit too silly. ðĪŠ Anywho, we've been fumbling around the past few months trying to put together a setlist, mostly of cover songs (but also a handful of originals) so that we can play out.
We record most of our practices... all of us plug into a Behringer XR18 mixer, put on headphones, and practice at low volume while recording digitally with Ableton.
As for my electronic stuff, I don't really have anything that I'm that proud of yet, but I'll give it a go anyway... I recorded a short beat I call "Hal's You Doing" (because it samples Hal 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey... it also samples crickets, a cat purring, and my own voice). I recorded and performed it on my old Teenage Engineering OP-1 that I recently sold for the mixer. Because the file is .aif, you'll likely have to download it to listen to it. I wouldn't blame ya if you don't wanna do that though! ð
Funky old school hiphop vibe on that Hal's You Doing beat! Great work with the samples. Loops nicely too. Would be cool to hear more beats if you keep going ðĨģ

Here's a version we recently did of Phish's "Everything's Right" that eventually jams into Kool and the Gang's "Summer Madness". Note that this is rough... it's a rehearsal and so pretty dang loose. Props to Jordan for the awesome lead vocals & amazing piano playing!
And here's a cover of "That's What Love Will Make You Do" with yours truly on vocals... another rough one from rehearsal but, it is what it is, haha!

I love OP-1 and did an album on it too... Lucy Lefty by staRpauSe free download on BandCamp
Since I know what it's like making beats on OP-1 I can especially appreciate what you put together with Hal's You Doing ðĪ
