Try it first: ask the data oracle. Pick a topic (love, work, code, money, the weekend or Monday), press the button, and after about ten seconds three cards turn over.
The three cards
- I. The Earth: the strongest earthquake of the last 24 hours according to the US Geological Survey, with magnitude and place.
- II. The Sky: NOAA's planetary Kp index, i.e. how hard the solar wind is shaking Earth's magnetic field. From Kp 5 it is a geomagnetic storm, and there are auroras.
- III. The Wanderer: the ISS, with its speed and the country or ocean it is flying over this very second.
Then there is the moon. It needs no API: a Code node works out the phase from a known new moon (6 January 2000) and the length of the synodic month, 29.53 days. Even the lucky number is honestly computed from the measurements.
What the workflow shows
The oracle is a joke, the workflow is not. It uses a few things you need in real automations all the time:
- Parallel requests: the webhook branches into three HTTP nodes at once. A Merge node with three inputs waits until all of them are done.
- Fault tolerance: any data source may fail. Then one number is missing, but the oracle still speaks.
- AI with guard rails: the model (gpt-oss-120b at IONOS in Germany) gets the measurements as JSON and has to answer in JSON. Rules in the prompt: no jokes about earthquake victims, no health or investment tips. If nothing usable comes back, a template steps in.
- The server draws: the site receives the reading, stores it with a number and a link, and draws the three cards as a preview image. That is why WhatsApp shows the cards when you share, not just a link.
One lesson from building it: gpt-oss thinks before it answers, and thinking costs tokens. With a limit of 1,400 tokens the German answer was sometimes empty because the model had spent the whole budget reasoning. With reasoning_effort: low and more headroom the answer arrives reliably, and faster.
Build your own
The workflow is ready as JSON to import. All three data sources are free and need no key; any OpenAI-compatible API works for the AI. If you do not need tarot cards, take the skeleton for something serious: query three sources in parallel, merge them, let an AI summarise.
To be honest: the data is real, the future is not. Looking for more buttons to press? The postcard from orbit comes from the same workshop.
