Why Are Big Tech Companies Pushing AI on Users Without Choice?

#ai

As the hype around AI continues to grow rapidly, big tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Meta are integrating AI into their products by default, often without users' explicit consent. For instance, WhatsApp and Instagram now come with Meta AI as a default feature, leaving users with little choice; simply opening these apps means engaging with their AI.

Similarly, with the latest Windows 11 updates and new Surface laptops, Microsoft is pushing its Copilot AI onto users without offering an option to opt out. By default, this AI takes certain controls of your computer, which raises concerns about increased vulnerability to hacking, potential data exploitation, and the possibility of data misuse by Microsoft.

Google is following a similar path with its Gemini models, embedding them in various services, from messaging apps to image processing and the voice assistant. Most recently, Gemini has been integrated into Chrome with its latest update.

This situation raises an important question: where does this leave the world of privacy? What regulations are in place to govern the use and development of artificial intelligence?
